James Phillip Baskett

Mr. James Phillip Baskett, age 90, of Brandenburg, KY, passed away on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at his residence.  Jim was born on September 1, 1935, the son of Roscoe Thomas and Elsie Louise (Stovall) Baskett.

Jim proudly served his country in the United States Army.  He was a loving son, faithfully taking care of his mother during her later years.  He was also a longtime member of Ekron Baptist Church.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; his aunt, Vanita Klusmeier; and his cousin, Deborah Levine.  He is survived by two cousins who were close to him, Bret Marcum and Monty Klusmeier; and several other cousins.  Although never having children of his own, Jim is also survived by his caregiver who he considered more like his granddaughter, Deanna Lynne Batchelder, great granddaughter, Hayleigh Gibbs, grandson, Dennis Coffman, and great-great grandson, Donovan King Griffin.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, April 23, 2026, at the chapel of the Hager Funeral Home, with Rev. Tom Curry officiating.  Burial, with military honors, will follow at 1:00 PM at Evergreen Cemetery in Louisville, KY.  Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM and on Thursday from 9:00 AM until the time of service. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Ekron Baptist Church Building Fund.
