James “Jim” Leo Cannady, age 92, of Brandenburg, KY, passed away on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at U of L Hospital in Louisville, KY.
He was born on January 10, 1932, in Louisville, KY, son of the late James Louis Cannady and Ethel Evelyn Motley Cannady. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Dorothy “Dot” Lee Cannady; and his brother, Jerry L. Cannady.
Jim was a veteran of the United States Air Force and a graduate of Valley High School. He was the owner of Jim Cannady Construction for many years and worked hard to help his community in any way he could. He was very involved in the Ekron Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon, served with the KY Baptist Disaster Relief program, and served on the Camp Salem Committee. Jim truly had a servant’s heart and prided himself on helping others, whether it was his church, his tenants, or his community. He provided his family with a godly example, encouragement, guidance, and constant prayer support. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and will be dearly missed by all who were blessed to know and love him.
He is survived by his children, Tom (Lindy Casebier) Cannady ,Vicki Cannady, Jeff (Leona) Cannady, and Steve (Tammy) Cannady; sister-in-law, Leaetta Cannady; grandchildren, Sarah (Ben) Evans, Kasi (Tyler) Schoenbaechler, JL (Ashley) Cannady, Claire (Alex) Furnival, Leah (Zach) Hester, and Jo (Zach) Babb; and great-grandchildren, Hunter, Fischer, Joslynn, Norah, Andi Kate, Chip, Major, Archer, and Hattie Beth; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2024, from 3:00-8:00 P.M. EDT at Bruington-Jenkins-Sturgeon Funeral Home, and will resume on Sunday, July 28, 2024, at the Ekron Baptist Church from 2:00 P.M. until the time of the service.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, July 28, 2024, at 3:00 P.M. EDT at the Ekron Baptist Church with Pastor Tom Curry officiating. Burial will follow in the Ekron Baptist Church Cemetery next to his wife, Dorothy.
