Mr. James Donald “Duck” Barr, age 71, of Payneville, KY, passed away on Monday, September 2, 2024, at the Brandenburg Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Duck was born on August 22, 1953, the son of Joseph Leon and Elizabeth Bernadine (Hardin) Barr.
Duck was into a little bit of everything. He was a car salesman for several years; worked as a deck hand on a barge; and then owned and operated The Ridin Room in Brandenburg. His true love was horses and riding every chance he got. Most did not know that he was a very talented artist, even being contacted by larger newspapers about drawing for them. Duck was an avid reader and knew something about any subject that you could bring up. He was a collector of everything and was such a kid at heart, finding the utmost joy in celebrating all of the holidays.
Duck was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Joseph Edward “Bucky” Barr. He is survived by two brothers, Gary Barr and his wife, Wilma, and Chuck Barr; and seven nieces and nephews.
In honoring Duck’s wishes, the family has chosen cremation, with no public service to be held. Hager Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
