James Gregory “Big Daddy” McCrary, Sr., age 63 of Irvington, Ky passed away at his residence on Tuesday, March 12, 2024.
He was born on October 19, 1960, in Hardinsburg, KY, son of the late James Roy and Ruby Wright McCrary Strohm. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters, Rhonda, Denise, and Diane.
Big Daddy was a hard worker who spent much of his life as an over the road truck driver. He was passionate about motorcycles and enjoyed attending motorcycle rallies. You were sure to hear a motorcycle when in his presence. Though “Big Daddy” was a tough name, he was most proud to be called Papaw by his grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife of almost 20 years, Jennifer Russelburg McCrary; children, James Gregory McCrary, Jr. of Louisville, Leland Chase (Katrina) Upchurch of Payneville, Mikayla (Josh) Swink of Louisville, and Dalton (Lena) Upchurch of Corydon, IN; sisters, Mary Jane (Jerry) Hogle, Karen (Al) Lindsey, and Elizabeth Webb (Troy) Atcher, five grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation with his family will be held at Alexander Funeral Home on Friday, March 15, 2024, from 4-6:00 P.M. EDT.
A Memorial Service will be held at Alexander Funeral Home on Friday, March 15, 2024, at 6:00 P.M. EDT with Bro. Carlie Ross officiating.
