Harry Lee Newby

Mr. Harry Lee Newby, age 74, of Ekron, KY, passed away on Monday, November 24, 2025, at Signature Healthcare of Elizabethtown surrounded by his loving family. Harry was born in Fort Lee, Virginia, on April 16, 1951, the son of Aldridge Eugene and Simonette (Reid) Newby. Harry retired from GCE after 35 years of service to the company. He was affectionately known as “Newby” to his coworkers and “Easy” to his old friends. Harry loved “old school” cars and loved anything Louisville. You could always find Harry hanging out on his front porch or spending time with his children and grandchildren, who he deeply cherished.

Harry was preceded in death by his wife, Darlene Annette Newby; his mother, Simonette Newby; his sister, Simone Freeman, his brother, Aldridge Newby, Jr.; and three grandchildren, Kyrie and Kyran Bowden and Baby Decker.

He is survived by seven children, Tierra (CJ) Decker, Andre Newby, Matthew Newby, Shanell (Kevin Bowden) Newby, Zandra (Mike) Elliott, Chandra Newby Rutherford and Chantelle Johnson; his seven grandchildren, who affectionately called him G-Daddy, Lowe and Elle Decker, Maleah, Macie, Haydren and Teagen Newby and Kynd and Kyslee Bowden; numerous other grandchildren and great grandchildren; seven siblings, Sheila Newby, Sandra Singleton, Sharon Dixon, Michael Newby, Eric Newby, Tyrone Newby and Curtis Newby; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-law’s in which he shared a special bond.

Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at the chapel of Hager Funeral Home with Rev. Eric Newby officiating. Cremation will follow the service. Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until the time of service.
