Mr. George Louis Lee, age 85, passed away peacefully on November 28, 2025, at Baptist Health Hardin Hospital in Elizabethtown, Kentucky.
George was married for 63 years to the love of his life, Carol Jean Triplett Lee. Together they made their home in Meade County for 52 years, where they raised their four children: Tony Lee (Gina), Wende Lee, David Lee (Michelle), and Dean Lee (Stephanie).
He was blessed with a large and devoted family, including 15 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren, each of whom he adored.
George was an exceptional athlete, especially talented in baseball. In the early 1960s, he played semi-professional baseball—an achievement he carried with pride throughout his life. His love of sports naturally led him to coach youth sports, including Little League baseball and youth football. He coached his sons and countless other young athletes in Meade County, shaping not only their skills but also their character, discipline, and confidence.
George served his country with great dedication, retiring after 44 years in the National Guard. He received numerous honors throughout his service, including the Army Achievement Medal. He also retired from the Local 105 Plumbers Union in Louisville, Kentucky, after 40 years of committed service.
In retirement, George enjoyed the things he loved most. He became an avid golfer and was extremely proud of his hole-in-one at Fort Knox. He was also honored as a Kentucky Colonel.
George lived to fish, hunt, and be outdoors. Running beagles and listening to them chase rabbits brought him immense joy. He taught many others to hunt, passing down traditions and sharing his passion generously.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Virginia Lee of Louisville, Kentucky, and his sister, Jerry Jackey.
George is survived by his loving wife, his children, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and his four siblings: Joanie Hilbert, Sandy Clark, Bob Lee, and Mike Lee.
George loved his family fiercely. He was the rock—steady, dependable, and always there to answer the call. His legacy of strength, devotion, and love will remain forever in the hearts of all who knew him.
