Gary Franklin Carman

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Gary Franklin Carman on August 5th, 2026, at the age of 75.

He was born on May 22, 1951, to the late Frank and Lillian Carman. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Connie Sue Wells and Alberta Carter.

Gary was a devoted husband, loving father, proud Papaw, and a man who lived life on his own terms. Anyone who knew him knew he could be stubborn, but that same determination was part of what made him so dependable and unforgettable. That determination was shown while serving in the U.S. Marine Corps.

He loved the outdoors and felt most at home on the water with a fishing pole in his hand or in the woods with his dogs on a hunt. He also had a lifelong love of horse racing and enjoyed the excitement and tradition that came with it. These weren’t just hobbies—they were some of the moments that brought him the greatest happiness.

While he enjoyed the outdoors, nothing meant more to him than his family. His greatest joy in life was being a father and a Papaw. He loved deeply, was always there when he was needed, and created memories that his family will carry with them forever.

He is survived by his beloved wife of over 30 years, Bobbie Bolta Carman; his daughter, Brianna (Andrew), his cherished grandson Tommy; Sisters Tammie (Mark) Rogers, Vickie (Robert) Bass, His Brother Danny (Cathy) Carman, brother-in-law, Fred Carter; and many other family members and friends who will miss him dearly.

Though he is no longer with us, his stories, laughter, love of the outdoors, and unwavering devotion to his family will live on in the hearts of everyone who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and memories that will never be forgotten.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2026, from 3:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. EDT. at Alexander Funeral Home, and will continue on Sunday, August 9, 2026 from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. EDT on August 9, 2026, at Alexander Funeral Home, with Bro. Tim Lucas officiating. Burial will follow in the Cedar Hill Cemetery.
