Francis "Frank" Joseph Wacker

Francis “Frank” Joseph Wacker, age 88, of Brandenburg, KY, passed away Saturday, March 23, 2024. 

   Frank was born July 12, 1935, in St. Paul, MN. He is preceded in death by parents, Alois A. and Marie U. Wacker, wife Julia F. “Fran” Wacker and daughter, Barbara A. Wacker. 

   Frank was an honorable member of the United States Army 11th Airborne Division stationed in Germany, earning a Parachutist badge and Good Conduct medal. He was a member of the VFW in Brandenburg, KY.

   Prior to moving to Kentucky, Frank was active in the St. Paul, MN community as a member of the Blessed Sacrament Church choir, The Dons barbershop quartet, and a coach for Babe Ruth youth baseball and Hazel Park youth hockey.  

   Frank and his wife Fran previously owned ‘Frank and Frans Tavern’ in Payneville, KY.  He enjoyed playing the ukulele, guitar, and trumpet, and enjoyed hunting and fishing. 

   Frank is survived by children, James J. Wacker (AZ), Robert F. (Heather) Wacker (MI), Michael A. (Vickie) Wacker (MN), John G. (Judy) Wacker (MN), Jeanine M. (Bart) Engwer (MN), Brenda A. Rodriquez (IN), Wendy S. (Michael) Godfrey (MN), Debra E. Kazmierczak (MN), Mark A. (Mag) Wacker (MN), mother of his children, Marlene M. Wacker (MN), step-daughter Christy M. (Joseph) Hurt (KY), (27) grandchildren, and (22) great-grandchildren. 

   A Committal Service will be held at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central, 2501 N Dixie Boulevard, Radcliff, KY 40160 on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at 1:30pm.   

   A meal will be held afterward at the Payneville Baptist Church, 115 Highway 376, Payneville, KY 40157. 

   Expressions of sympathy via donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (Louisville, KY), Shriners Hospital for Children Medical Center (Lexington, KY), or the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
