Fatal Christmas collision in Garrett tragically claims the life of one and sends two others to hospital

According to the Kentucky State Police, Elizabethtown Post, they responded to a two vehicle collision in Meade County on Thursday, December 25. The collision occured at the intersections of Garrett Road and Brandenburg Road at approximately 10 pm.
The initial investigation indicates that an F-150 pickup truck operated by Kailey Kwiatkowski, 19, of Brandenburg, was traveling westbound on KY 144 when, for unknown reasons, crossed the center line. The F-150 struck a Nissan Sentra in a head on manner. The Nissan Sentra was traveling eastbound on KY 144 and was being operated by 20 year old Trae McCormack of Ekron. McCormack was fatally injured in the collision and pronounced deceased by the Meade County Coroner’s Office.
The F-150 also struck a vehicle that was parked in a paved area adjacent to KY 144. James Anderson, 38, of Bloomfield, Indiana, was sitting in the parked vehicle when it was struck, but was not injured.
Kwiatkowski and a juvenile passenger of the Sentra were transported to University of Louisville Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Trooper Scott Wheatley is conducting the ongoing collision investigation. He was assisted on scene by Meade County Fire, Meade County EMS, and the Meade County Coroner’s Office.
