Eva Helen (Kovach) Slayton

Mrs. Eva Helen Slayton, age 61, of Flaherty, KY, passed away on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at Baptist Health Hardin, surrounded by her  loving family.  Eva was born on December 5, 1964, the daughter of Roy and Gladys Kovach.

Eva was a 1983 graduate of Meade County High School and a longtime member of Buck Grove Baptist Church.  She was an avid sports fan, especially for the Kentucky Wildcats, but more importantly, anything that her grandsons were involved in.  Eva was a 28 year employee of the Presbyterian Church headquartered in downtown Louisville.  She enjoyed travelling, taking care of her flowers, and spending time with her family.  She was thankful for the things that she had and had no desire for other materialistic things.

Eva was preceded in death by her husband, William Gerald “Jerry” Slayton, Jr; her parents, Roy and Gladys Kovach; her sisters, Daisy Yvonne Lambert; her brother, Roy Kovach, Jr.; and her father and mother-in-law, William Gerald “Bill” and Elizabeth Jean Slayton.  She is survived by three children, Amanda (Eddie) Dieruf, Stephanie (Lewis) Mink, and William Gerald “Trae” Slayton, III; four grandsons, Ryan and Ethan Lasley, and Dylan and Logan Mink; four siblings, David Kovach, Jeri (Phillip) Tabor, Susan Kovach, and Michael Kovach; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, December 29, 2025, at the chapel of the Hager Funeral Home, with Revs. Corey Young and David Campbell officiating.  Burial will follow in Cap Anderson Cemetery.  Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 11:00 AM until 7:00 PM on Sunday, and from 9:00 AM until the time of service on Monday.
