Douglas Everett Lewis, age 58, of Irvington, KY, passed away on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at Breckinridge Memorial Hospital.
He was born on July 7, 1967, in Ft. Knox, KY, son of Lawrence Lewis, Sr. and the late Janet Halloway. Along with his mother, he was preceded in death by his brother, Joe Lewis; and stepfather, Ed Halloway.
Doug was a proud graduate of North Hardin High School and played football there for some time. He was an avid University of Louisville and The Ohio State fan, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, and being outdoors. Doug worked as a lab technician at Breckinridge Memorial Hospital for over 28 years and was known for his genuine kindness and patient care that rose above the standard call. His compassion for others was beyond compare, and his gentle nature brought hope to everybody he served. His hands were gentle enough to steady those who needed comfort, but strong enough to lift his grandchildren into the biggest bear hugs. Doug’s legacy lives on through the family he adored and every life he quietly touched along the way.
He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Cathy Lewis of Irvington; daughters, Jessica (Alvin) Palmer of Guston, KY, and Rebecca (Nick) Smith of Hardinsburg, KY; brothers, Lonnie (Michelle) Lewis and Daniel (Kathy) Lewis; father, Lawrence Edward “Skip” (Linda) Lewis, Sr.; sister-in-law, Roxanna Lewis; and five precious grandbabies, Richard Palmer, Rowen Palmer, Rylee Smith, Mary Smith, and Ada Smith.
Visitation will be held at the Alexander Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, from 4-8:00 P.M. EDT and will continue Thursday from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the service.
Funeral services will be held from the chapel of the funeral home on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at 1:00 P.M. with Father Brian Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Merino Cemetery.
