Douglas Edward Holcomb, age 72, of Shepherdsville, KY, passed away on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville, KY.Â
He was born on July 7, 1953, in El Paso, TX, son of the late Deo Holcomb and Jessie West Holcomb. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Nita Kesterson.
Douglas worked as a master machinist for the Naval Ordinance for several years. During his time there, he worked on parts for battleships and other military equipment, and became skilled at his craft. He was strong-willed, determined, and courageous. He enjoyed riding his motorcycles, studying astronomy, and photography; capturing life’s moments and enjoying the ride were true passions of his. Most of all, he loved his family. He was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, and friend, and will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his son, Chris (Leslie) Smith; brothers, Joe Holcomb and Richard (Bobbie) Holcomb; grandsons, Nathan and Nicholas Smith; and a host of friends.
Following his wishes, cremation has been chosen by the family and no services will be held at this time. Bruington Jenkins Sturgeon Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.Â
