Christine Elizabeth Owens, Age 73 of Irvington, KY went to Heaven on Saturday, March 2, 2024, after spending several days, surrounded by her family and friends who loved her.
She was born in Zion, KY on January 8, 1951. Daughter of the late, James Cleaver and Essie Lee Ditto Warner. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Floyd Owens; sister, Flora Mae Christian; and brother, Earnest Cleaver.
Christine was an active member of the Church of the Living God in Irvington where she was lovingly referred to as the “mother of the church”. She was a caregiver by nature and worked as a CNA at MEDCO in Brandenburg, North Hardin Nursing Home, in Radcliff, and Baytown Nursing Home in Baytown, TX. Everyone who knew her loved her, and people would often comment on how sweet, cute, and kind spirited she was. She truly was a person who would “give you the shirt off her back” kind of woman. She always had a smile on her face and found joy in bringing laughter to all the people around her. She loved her gospel music, movies, and especially her family. Her grandbabies and great grandbabies were a great source of joy to her.
She is survived by her children, Lavenia (Dennis) Murray of Irvington, Roberta Ditto Taylor of Federal Way, WA, Deborah (John Ross) Owens of Louisville, KY, and Daniel Ditto of Irvington; grandchildren, Christopher, Alphonso, Candice, Matthew, Latoya, Breanna, Troy, Kobe; 16 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild; sisters, Mary Rowe and Jeanette Cleaver; brothers, Joe Cleaver, Russell (JoAnn) Cleaver, and Logan (Rossana) Cleaver; a host of family, friends, and her church family.
A service to celebrate her life and homegoing will be held at the Church of the Living God, on Thursday, March 7, 2024 at 1:00 P.M. EST with Bishop Timothy Goins officiating.
