WMMG has learned more details regarding a shooting at the courthouse in Hardin County that took place Monday morning.
Elizabethtown Police Department posted a statement on social media at approximately 9:45 EST Monday morning confirming that a shooting had taken place in the parking lot of the Hardin County Courthouse in Elizabethtown. At the time of the original posting, details were sparse but WMMG has since learned that the shooting was likely related to a domestic situation.
According to law enforcement, the three victims of the shooting involved the suspect's girlfriend as well as the girlfriend's father and mother. Two of the victims, the girlfriend and here mother are both reportedly deceased while the father is in critical condition.
The shooter allegedly fled the scene and the county, involving multiple law enforcement agencies in the search and investigation. Just before 1:00pm EST, it was reported that Kentucky State Police were in a stand off with the suspect in Hopkinsville and that deputies from Christian and Muhlenberg counties were also at the scene.
