Betty Rae Brookshire Curry, age 93, of Brandenburg, KY, passed away on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at Story Point Retirement Community in Middletown, KY.

She was born on February 5, 1932, in Taylorsville, KY, daughter of the late Guy Hughes Brookshire and Minnie Belle Monroe Brookshire. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Kenneth Earl Curry; and siblings, Hugh Brookshire, Glenna Robinson, Wilma Stump, Allen Brookshire, Marge Henry, Frank Brookshire, Pauline Henry, Cecil Brookshire, and Anna Tindall.

Betty, lovingly known as “Miss Betty”, was truly a special person. She graduated from Taylorsville High School, continued her education at Campbellsville University and Georgetown College, and obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Education. She started working as an elementary school teacher in Jefferstontown, KY, and then moved to Meade County where she spent over 25 years serving the school district here. Betty was honest, kind, and had a giving nature. She loved the Lord, and that was reflected in the substantial volunteer work she did through her church and other organizations. Her sweet smile and bright spirit will be missed by all who were blessed to know her.

She is survived by her niece, Amye Shouse, and special friend, Regina Foushee, who looked after her faithfully and embraced her with caring hands and kind hearts after Kenneth’s passing; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews that loved her dearly.

Visitation will be held at Ekron Baptist Church on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, from 11:00 A.M.-2:00 P.M.

Funeral Services will be held at the church at 2:00 P.M. with Bro. Tom Curry officiating. Burial will follow in the Ekron Baptist Church Cemetery next to her husband.
