1SG (Ret.) John D. Aaron, age 57, of Brandenburg, KY, suddenly passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at his residence.  He was born in Youngstown, OH, the son of Richard and Ruth (Webb) Aaron.

John retired from the United States Army after 29 years of service to his country.  He had a very decorated career earning a Purple Heart, where he became a member of the Military Order of Purple Heart (MOPH), as well as numerous commendations and awards.  John served in several duty stations including Iraq, Kuwait, and Germany.  He was a tanker in the 37th Armored Division and if asked would tell everyone that “it was the best job I ever had.”  He was also a member of the 37th Armor Association.  After retirement, he continued to serve by becoming Operations Manager for the Kentucky School for the Blind for the past 8 years.  He would go above and beyond taking his service dogs to the school and allowing the children to have that interaction and sense of touch with them.  John also served as a Boy Scout Leader for many years and that opportunity allowed him to meet his wife.  He was also bestowed the honor of becoming a Kentucky Colonel.

John was preceded in death by his father, Dick Aaron.  He is survived by his wife, Patricia D. Aaron; two step sons, Joshua Wieger and Jeremy Wieger; a loving Opa to two grandchildren, William and Brianna Wieger; his mother, Ruth Webb Aaron; four siblings, Michael Aaron, Annette (Bob) McKenty, Matthew Aaron, and Patricia (James) Wirtz; his brother-in-law, Rondel (Teri) Ashley; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
