Shirley Marie (Newsome) Capps

Mrs. Shirley Marie Capps, age 87, of Irvington, KY, passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2024, at her residence.  Mrs. Capps was born June 8, 1936, the daughter of James and Thelma Newsome.

Shirley had a very contagious and outgoing personality.  She loved people and never met a stranger.  She deeply loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them, especially her grandchildren.  She loved the innocence of children, as captured by her picture, which is the favorite picture of herself.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Capps; her son, James Dana Capps; and her daughter, Carol Ann Capps.  She is survived by two sons, Clifford Capps, and his wife, Angie, and Ron Capps and his wife, Mary; two grandchildren, Jacob Capps and his spouse, Jae, and Ethan Capps.

In honoring Shirley’s wishes the family has chosen cremation with no public services to be held.  Hager Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
