Michael Joseph Harris McCaffrey, age 49, passed away on Saturday, July 5, 2025, at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.

Born on July 1, 1976, Michael proudly served in the United States Army, which brought him to Fort Knox, Kentucky, a place he chose to call home. For over 20 years, he worked as both a skilled diesel mechanic and a talented woodworker. Known as a true jack of all trades, there was little he couldn’t fix, and he never missed an opportunity to lend a helping hand.

Michael’s generous spirit, big heart, and sharp wit made him a friend to many and a handyman to all. He was known for his sarcastic sense of humor and loved to tease those he cared about most, his way of showing affection and keeping things lighthearted. He had a special love for his cats and found peace in the simple joys of life.

He is survived by his beloved daughter, Zoey (Ethan) McCormick; three sisters, Kim Medaglia, Kristen McCaffrey, and Kerry McCaffrey; and a chosen family who meant the world to him: Catherine Kaiser, Giovani, and Cruz; Adam (Tredina) Kaiser; Slick Parr; Terri Canales; Karoline, Joel, Trudy, and Chip Voelker; Mathew, Kaden, and Shane Hensley.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 18, 2025, from 9:30 AM until 12:00 PM at Bruington Jenkins Sturgeon Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 18, 2025 12:00 PM in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at 1:30 PM at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central.

Expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of donations to the funeral home to assist with funeral expenses (Bruington-Jenkins-Sturgeon Funeral Home, 198 Lawrence Street, Brandenburg, KY 40108, 270-422-2115)
