Marion Elder Manning passed on to his heavenly home on November 17, 2025, surrounded by family and loving caregivers.

He was born on February 14, 1939, a true Valentine, to Bob and Letitia Elder Manning. They preceded him in death, as did his wife of 54 years, Jean Cunningham Manning; daughter, Victoria Anne Manning; his brothers, Rudy, J.L. (Scoot), David, Earl, and John Milfred Manning; and his sister, Amelia Barr.

Survivors include his daughter, Peggy Harrison (Dennis) of Georgetown, IN; son, Scott Manning (Dee) of Hardinsburg, KY; grandchildren, Shane Harrison (Kendra), Cody Manning (Tara), and Barbara Manning; great-grandchildren, Bradley, Tyler, Hadley, Colt, Elainna, and Oliver; brother, George Manning; sister, Janie Titus; and sister-in-law, Mary Jo Manning. He leaves behind a host of loving and caring nieces and nephews.

Marion followed in the footsteps of his oldest brothers, Rudy and George, to become a proud Marine. After serving his country, he returned home and worked for many years for General Mills, and then for Ashland Oil Refining Company until he retired. He and Jean took advantage of retirement by traveling to many destinations, including 45 of the 50 states, Puerto Rico, and most of the Canadian provinces. When she developed dementia and then Alzheimer’s, his days were spent caring for her. He was a giver and was often helping someone else, whether it was cooking a meal, completing a repair, or giving away vegetables from his garden. A perfect day would have included a fishing pole, playing cards, pulling a prank, or spending time with family and friends.

Marion was blessed with a group of ladies who lovingly cared for him. They included Reva Peters, Shannon Allen, Mary Heavrin, Karissa Wilson, Mallory Basham, Robin Hardin, Nancy Basham, Sue Holbrook, and Hope Russell.
