James “Kevin” Morgan, age 65, of Battletown, KY, passed away on Thursday, December 25, 2025, at Harrison County Hospital.
He was born on August 9, 1960, in Hardinsburg, KY, son of Fred Morgan and the late Imogene Bullock Morgan.
Kevin was a 1978 graduate of Meade County High School. He worked in road construction for Hall Contracting and Faulkner Construction for some time and enjoyed it, but his true passion was farming. He was a lifelong farmer, well-respected for his hard work, big heart, and booming personality. A proud International Harvester man, he loved his craft, his cattle, and the land he worked. He was an active member of the Cattleman’s Association, even earning the honor of Meade County Master Conservationist in 2003; and a certificate of appreciation for outstanding & dedicated service of the Meade county FSA committee. Known for his quick wit and good-natured antagonizing, he had a way of joking with people that made them feel like they belonged. He was a member of the Parr-Frans Cemetery Association, and was a faithful member of the Breakfast Club at Stull’s General Store, where mornings were spent over coffee, stories, and laughter. Above all else, he loved life, his family, and the community that meant so much to him. His legacy will live on in the fields he tended, the people he impacted, and the many stories that will be told with a smile.
He is survived by his loving wife, Rachel L. Morgan; father, Fred Morgan; brother, Danny (Kathy) Morgan; nieces, Alyssa Morgan, Nancy Morgan, Whitney Mattingly, and Mary Morgan; and several great-nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at the Bruington Jenkins Sturgeon Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, from 4-8:00 P.M. and will continue on Wednesday from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the service.
Funeral services will be held from the chapel of the funeral home on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. with Bro. Tom Bridge officiating. Burial will follow in Parr-Frans Cemetery.
Expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of donations to the Parr Frans Cemetery Association or the Meade County Cattleman’s Association in memory of Kevin, which will assist in the purchase of 4H livestock for the Meade County Fair.
