Fay (Haynes) Whelan

Mrs. Fay Whelan, age 88, of Vine Grove, KY, passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at Baptist Health Hardin.  Fay was born September 16, 1935, the daughter of Herbert and Aliene (Murray) Haynes.

     Fay was preceded in death by her 1st husband, Harold Norton; her son, Robert Norton; her step son, David Lee Whelan; her daughter-in-law, Debbie Norton; her son-in-law, Gene Hobbs; her sister, Mae Johnson; and two brothers, Herbert Ray and Lawrence Haynes.  She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Joseph E. “Gene” Whelan; two children, Roger Norton, and Denise (Harley) Ellis; six step children, Lisa Hobbs, Perry (Jean) Whelan, Lonnie (Kelly) Whelan, Joe (Susan) Whelan, Rhonda (Gene) Thompson, and Elaine (Jeff) McKinney; her brother, Houston “Doodle” (Joyce) Haynes; her daughter-in-law, Jane Norton; her sister-in-law, Arlene Haynes; 14 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.

    A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, with Father Ben Brown officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 8:30 AM until the time of service on Saturday.  Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the St. Martin Cemetery Fund.
