Ernie L. Carman

Ernie Lee Carman, 81, of Big Spring, Kentucky passed away on Saturday, July 19, 2025. He was born on April 28, 1944, in High Plains, Kentucky son of the late Anna Mae and Oscar Carman.

Ernie was a 1961 graduate of Irvington High School. He retired from the Ford Truck Plant in 2000 after 33 years of dedicated work.

Ernie was a 32nd Degree Mason, a deacon at Big Spring Baptist Church and later at Buck Grove Baptist Church where he was a member for 46 years.

Ernie was an avid fan of the Kentucky Wildcats and many sports. He supported the Meade County Greenwaves and attended many of their games. Ernie also enjoyed playing golf and even volunteered at many Fuzzy Zoeller golf tournaments.

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Brenda (Lockard) Carman; daughters Darlah (Mark) Zweifel and Angela (James) Cherry, three grandchildren; Bradley Clark, Independence, Kentucky, April Cherry, Brooklyn, New York, and Zachery Cherry, Independence, Kentucky. A sister, Virginia Fay Minter and one brother, Howard Ray Carman; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on July 22, 2025 at Chism Family Funeral Home from 11:00am to 4:00pm. Funeral services will be held at 4:00pm at the chapel of Chism Family Funeral Home with Pastor Corey Young of Buck Grove Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Big Spring Baptist Cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of donations to Big Spring Baptist Cemetery.
