Mary Lorraine “Lane” Deal, age 99, of Louisville, KY, passed away on Friday, May 22, 2026 in Louisville.  

She was retired from the U.S. Census Bureau. Mary was born on April 15, 1927 in Louisville, KY daughter of the late Francis Smith Penick and Arthur T. Penick.  Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband Burr Winton Deal, Jr; a daughter, Monna Lane Redden; and a brother, Arthur T. Penick, Jr.

Mary is survived by her son, Gary Winton Deal; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren soon to be 19; and 1 great-great-grandson.

Graveside services will be held at Resthaven Cemetery in Louisville on Tuesday, June 2, 2026 at 1:00 P.M. with Rev. David Buckham officiating.
